What this site remembers

Short version: if you say yes, the site remembers which homes you look at so Will can suggest better ones. If you say no, it remembers nothing.

If you tap Accept

The site gives your browser a random ID. It is not your name. It can not be used to find you. We use it to remember:

  • what you search for and the filters you pick
  • which homes you open and which photos you look at
  • how long you stay on a page
  • which homes you save, unsave or share
  • when you ask a question about a home

We do not attach your name, email or phone number to this ID. Those only reach us if you type them into a form and send it, or if Will sent you a link, which is explained next.

If Will sent you a link to a home

Some links Will sends have a short code at the end, like ?r=ab12cd. The code is not your name. Will knows which person it was for. We remove the code from the address bar as soon as the page opens.

If you tap Accept, the site keeps the code in a cookie called wc_r for 13 months. We then tie to you the homes you look at, the photos and maps you use, your searches, your saved homes, and any time you tap text, call or email. If you looked around before you opened Will's link, that earlier browsing is tied to you too. If you send a question and Will already has your phone or email, we tie your visits to you the same way.

If you tap No thanks, the code is dropped and nothing is tied to you.

Will keeps a list of the people he has sent links to. It holds the name and the phone or email he already has for you. He keeps that entry until you ask him to remove it. The visit data follows the 13 month rule below.

If you tap No thanks

The site does not create an ID and does not send any of the information above. Your choice is saved in your own browser so we do not ask again.

If you send a question or save a search

We keep your name, your email or phone, your message and the home or filters you were looking at. The form sends a copy to Will's Gmail so he can reply. We only text or email you about homes if you tick the box that says Will can.

If Will follows up, he may add you to his contact list in BoldTrail. BoldTrail is run by Inside Real Estate, a company in the United States. A BoldTrail contact is kept until you ask Will to remove it. Contact Will at willclarkehomes@gmail.com.

Why

So Will can answer you with homes that fit, and not send the same list to everyone.

This site uses Google and Meta ad tags so Will can see which of his ads bring people to the site.

Where it is stored and for how long

The information is stored by Netlify, a company in the United States, so it leaves Canada. The maps on this site come from MapTiler, and your browser asks MapTiler for the map pictures.

The tracking data listed under If you tap Accept, the random ID and the homes and pages tied to it, is deleted after 13 months. A program checks every day and removes anything older.

Questions and saved searches sent through the form sit in Netlify Forms and in Gmail. Those entries and copies are cleared after 13 months. You can also ask Will to delete yours sooner.

See it or delete it

Tell Will and he will show you what is stored about your browser, or delete it. Text or call 780 804 1665 or email willclarkehomes@gmail.com. If you can, send the same device and browser you used so we can find your record.

Your browser

You can clear this site's data in your browser at any time. That removes the ID from your device. We will not know it was you.
